Every Work-from-Home Parent’s Nightmare: You Have to Watch This! by Ann Marie Patitucci
Imagine: You’re in your home office being interviewed on live TV by the BBC, when your toddler rushes into the room. How do you know? The interviewer tells you! And then your baby enters the room on wheels in the baby walker! You do your best to maintain your composure and continue with the interview (on the impeachment of South Korea’s president, no less!) until the children finally get escorted out by your spouse who figures out what the kids are up to, then closes the door behind them.
I could feel Robert Kelly’s pain while watching this video, as shared on CBS This Morning's YouTube channel (with humorous anchor commentary). And yet I couldn’t help but find it hilarious, and so very relate-able. Robert Kelley, you are all of us work-from-home parents. We’re not laughing at you; we’re laughing WITH you. Working from home is challenging. Working outside the home is challenging. Being a stay-at-home parent is challenging. Sometimes the best we can hope for is to stay composed (or at least try to) and laugh (preferably while not on live TV)!
