Narcissists have difficulty loving their partners due to a lack of truly loving themselves. Their partner is often not viewed as a separate person; instead, their purpose is to fill the narcissist's needs. A narcissistic partner enjoys manipulation and will not be fully committed in the long term. Narcissists' lack of empathy makes their partners feel like they are an accessory, unimportant and lonely.

If your partner is overly obsessed with themselves, needs constant attention, always believes they are correct, excessively sensitive to criticism and has a superiority complex, you are most likely in a relationship with a narcissist. A narcissist will take over the conversation and proceed to extol their virtues. They have little interest in what their partner is saying or doing unless it directly pertains to them. They will also try to exert control over your life, perhaps separating you from friends or loved ones to gain more power over you.
