Moving Into the New Year With Hope, Goals & Dreams: A Single Mom's Year in Review by Dawn Taylor

For me, 2019 was a year of highs and lows:
- I started my year living next door to four inconsiderate, obnoxious college seniors who had already for months made my life a sleepless, living hell. Somehow I got into another rental home by March and managed to complete grad school. In May I received my M. Ed in Educational Leadership.
- I completed a children’s book and found an illustrator, and now work toward getting it published.
- My college junior donated stem cells to save a life.
- My high school daughters won awards and were consistently high honor roll.
While I still struggle trying to make ends meet, I do find some hope for the most part, and am definitely grateful for all the good things. Considering what our family has been through, I try to find strength and hope moving forward.
My car broke down recently and so I end my 2019 on foot trying to figure out how to afford such a major repair. I find myself down and depressed at times as I feel everything is just constant struggle. When will it end? Will I ever feel less stressed? Will things finally be OK and I can relax and enjoy the days instead of trying to make it through them?
My hope is that the coming year brings a little less stress and more moments of peace. I am ready for my hard work to pay off. I am ready to be valued for all I do, and find financial stability and reward for all I do.
I am ready for 2020.
