Healthy Eating Strategies: 3 Foods to Beware of From a Nutritionist (You Won't Believe No. 1) by Fiona Hunter
Healthy fats are healthy, right? Superfoods are super healthy, right? Not so fast.
Here are some new insights into healthy eating. I suggest, in my opinion, you beware of the following:
- Superfoods: You might be tempted to load up on them for antioxidant benefits. "Superfood" is really a marketing term and doesn't have a legal or scientific definition. It’s important to understand that superfoods are not magic bullets, and throwing a few superfoods into a diet that is unhealthy or unbalanced won’t magically transform it.
- Healthy fats: You might be tempted to replace your unhealthy fat cravings with healthy fats. One thing that you need to keep in mind is that whatever type of fat you choose, fat is very energy dense, which means that foods that contain a lot of fat, regardless of whether good or bad fat, contain a lot of calories. So if you are watching your weight you need to mindful of the amount you eat.
- Fizzy Drinks: They are potentially the worst thing in the world for your health. Get your sugar fix from fruit instead.
