Recipe Notes
- Use provolone or your favorite cheese instead of mozzarella.
- If you don't have a grill, cook the burger patties in a skillet.
- Use homemade basil pesto or jarred pesto.
- If you don't have or like arugula, use shredded lettuce or baby spinach.
Here's how to make it:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and 1/3 cup of the pesto. Season with salt and black pepper. Divide the mixture into four patties.
- Heat the grill to medium-high. Grill the burgers, flipping a couple times, until cooked to desired doneness. Add cheese at the end of cooking time and let it melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns, if desired. Spread some mayonnaise on the bottom bun. Top with tomato slices, red onion, the burger patty, then drizzle with basil pesto. Top with a handful of fresh arugula. Add the top bun.
