How to Store Fresh Herbs & Lettuce: This Trick Will Extend Their Shelf Life!

Extend the lifespan of washed herbs, celery and expensive gourmet lettuce greens with this trick:

  • Roll them up in damp paper towels.
  • Place them in plastic zipper-lock bags with the seals left slightly open.

The damp paper towels will also provide a built-in freshness indicator.

At the first hint of decay, you'll see darker spots of liquid forming on the paper towels. This is a good sign that you should use up your greens within a day or two.

Yes! I do this. Works like a charm. I also have one of those freshness containers from Tupperware with the two vents you can open or close. It works really well, too. Loving all your cooking tips! Keep 'em coming!
